FAQs

Can we pick which days of the week our child attends?
Generally, no. For the most part, parents request one of three options, 5 days per week, MWF or TTH. However, if we have the availability and the schedule allows for your child to attend different days, we will consider it and allow the custom schedule.
*Pricing is dependent on the amount of days a child attends not which particular days.
Do you have early drop off or late pick up?
With prior arrangements, yes. We do ask that parents keep in mind that because the preschool is in a private home, they be mindful of times the children are picked up and dropped off.
How is physical misbehavior handled at the school?
There is no “punishment” system implemented in our preschool. We believe that a child’s behavior can be from a lot of things- over-stimulation, being overwhelmed or even fear to name a few. In that vein, when a child acts out, especially physically, we redirect the child to another room or activity depending on the severity of the incident.

If the incident involves another child, a written notice will be sent home to the families of parties involved within 24 hours.
If the misbehavior continues, we request a meeting with the family and discuss options for a change in structure that is in the best interest of the child.
Will the children nap?
No. Currently, our program is 3.5 hours long in both the morning and afternoon sessions. There is no need for a nap.
Is snack included in the tuition?
Yes
Is lunch (am or pm) included in tuition?
No-but a meal plan can be added for an additional fee.
Is this a daycare or preschool?
We are first and foremost a preschool. This means that for children ages 2-6, they are given structure, activities, lessons and when appropriate, worksheets and homework.
How do you know our child is progressing academically?
We conduct monthly assessments to understand what a child has done, learned and needs to work on.
What kind of snacks are served at snack time?
Fruit, crackers, cheese, raw vegetables etc.
Is this a peanut/nut free school?
No. Unless we are made aware of a child’s known allergy, we allow children to bring what they would like.
Can a child refuse to eat during the set mealtime but still eat later?
Yes. We implement a “no thank you rule.” If a child refuses to eat we ask that they please take a ONE bite of the food and make sure they don’t want it before refusing the meal. There are “on demand snacks” available throughout the day if they choose not to eat during snack/lunch as well.
Are holidays paid/included in tuition?
Yes. As a business like most, we allow ourselves preset paid holidays (specifics in calendar) and one week of paid vacation during the academic year.
Are you open for normal “school holidays”?
Yes. Except for the dates stated on our calendars we work most, “teacher work days” etc.
Do you accept drop-in care?
Yes. This option is currently available only to those families that have filled out all registration paperwork and have seen the facility.
What is protocol when a child is sick?
Please call at least 24 hours in advance when possible. Emails will not be taken as sufficient notice of absence as sometimes we cannot get to our emails until the end of the school day.
Will you administer medicine for children if they are sick?
No. CA childcare laws do not allow us to administer any over the counter medications to children, even upon parental request. We ask that if a child is sick enough to need medication, it be taken before/after school or the child stay home.
*Prescription medication is only administered with a signed letter from the doctor with instructions. Parents must also sign a waiver of liability to allow us to provide said medication.
Must a child be vaccinated to attend school?
Yes.
